What about that bill in Congress?

We need your help.

A very bad idea is still alive in Congress.

It is a plan to set a fixed amount of $140 billion to settle asbestos claims nationwide.

Contrary to public reports, the U.S. Senate has not effectively killed this trust fund. The Senate can revive it—and there is unfortunately some powerful interests with motive to do so.

We need you to tell your representatives in Congress, and especially your senators, to continue to stand fast against a proposal that only hurts the families that have sufferred so tragically from exposure to asbestos.

If the proposed trust fund could redress the grievances of all the families who have lost loved ones to asbestos and mesothelioma, we’d support it. If it could justly and humanely stop the flow of litigation, we’d support it.

But we oppose it because it accomplishes nothing. Read what one woman in Alabama, who lost her husband to mesothelioma, has to say, and how she tried to talk to her homestate senators.

Exceptions to the fund are springing up all over the country, in devastated little towns like Libby, Montana. The money won’t cover new medical treatments for mesothelioma. The trust even has “long-term” provisions, but our people are dying. They can’t wait for long-term provisions.

The politicians who have proposed the $140 billion trust have, we hope, done so honestly. But they’re simply wasting $140 billion and holding out false hopes to so many people.

We hope you will help us stop this awful waste. Again, simply contact your Congressional representatives and urge them to reject this trust fund and look for better ways to help the victims of asbestos and mesothelioma.

Tell your representatives in Congress to say no to the Asbestos Trust Fund, which can harm so many people and accomplish so very little.

      While people die waiting for some kind of compensation,in Libby since 1999, over 90 people have died.I am one of those walking dead waiting for something from the bastards that poisoned three generations of my family who are dead and dying today from living and breathing Libby’s deadly air.And since 1999 innocent families have continued to move to Libby to continue the tree of death that has killed a entire town.EPA states Libby is safe.Libby is not safe and EPA needs to be held accountable to those who have been exposed and will die because of their lie.Read Paul Peters of Independent Missoula titled A Dangerous LIE by EPA.Anything is better than dying with nothing.And we wait…

      Those of you Govt. such as city,county, State and Federal and anyone else who is paid by tax payer money( that be me) and who are responsible as your sworn duty to inform, warn and protect the public from something that is known to kill them.The Superme Court has rule that yes this is the responsibility of Govt.So when all those people/families that are being exposed to Tremolite asbestos since 1999 in Libby Montana, which we all know kills you, it will be you all who will be held accountable to those innocent people/families that have moved to Libby being told Libby is a safe place to live and raise a family.This is a deadly lie.Where are those of you who are suppose to protect the public from a known poison? How many more hundred of people will it take to suffer and die from this deadly exposure before you stop it? You are knowingly allowing people into a environmet that is going to kill them.This ust drives me crazy trying to understand what it will take to stop this continued holocaust of human beings in Libby Montana with lies that Libby is fit/safe to live/breathe in.Libby is not safe and it is wrong and criminal to knowingly lie to people who will suffer and die from those lies.Ten years to tell the truth about Libby and people/families continue to move to Libby, only to be exposed to die.WHY???
