Canada has spearheaded an effort to keep chrysotile asbestos off a global “watch list” of toxic substances. Quebec is a major producer, in case you’re wondering why.

Chrysolite asbestos kills people. In two years, the United Nations will once again consider putting it on the watch list.

By then, it’s estimated that 200,000 workers will have died from exposure.
